Deputy Energy Minister Abu Dhabi addresses Sustainability Week (photo, VİDEO)

Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov attended the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit, organized by Masdar, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Deputy Minister spoke at the panel session entitled “Concrete Steps for Decarbonization” within the framework of the Summit.

According to the Ministry of Energy, Elnur Soltanov shared his views on the role of COP29 in the decarbonisation process, the policy of Azerbaijan in this direction and the Carbon Regulatory Mechanism at the Border (CBAM), which the European Union (EU) applies to the import of carbon-capable products.

Nazir müavini Azərbaycan Respublikasının Prezidenti cənab İlham Əliyevin ədalətli enerji keçidinin təmin edilməsi və dekarbonizasiya tədbirlərinin inkişafı məhdudlaşdırmaması ilə bağlı mövqeyinə istinad edərək vurğulayıb ki, bu sahədə məcburetmə yanaşmasından deyil, daha çox təşviqedici mexanizmlərin gücləndirilməsindən istifadə olunması məqsədəuyğundur. Elnur Soltanov Azərbaycanın karbon vergisinə yanaşmasının dekarbonizasiya üzrə tədbirlərin və bu istiqamətdə çəkilən xərclərin sərhəddə deyil, ölkə daxilində həyata keçirilməsinə, yaradılan əlavə dəyərin isə birbaşa milli iqtisadiyyata töhfə verməsinə əsaslandığını diqqətə çatdırıb.

It should be noted that Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), which brings together representatives of government, business, finance and civil society, is the UAE's global platform to accelerate sustainable development.
